“Let us suppose for a moment that we eat healthy, we get sufficient exercise and are keeping a healthy outlook, a tall order but even if it were true, you still would not have a healthy life. Your environment, or vihara as it is called in Everyday Ayurveda is an essential part of a healthy life. For anyone living in the city, a cramped house with little or no greenery is a common sight. In fact, some houses are situated close to highways, factories and other construction sites, all of which are sources of pollutants. Mountain Biologicals feels bad for people who have the bad habit of taking their environment for granted but it actually affects your health greatly. That neglected pile of garbage outside your house is a source of germs, the lack of trees is causing dust to become a part of your household and the constant plying of vehicles is causing you to inhale smoke. When you are exposed to this routinely, you stand the risk of developing respiratory ailments like asthma, bronchitis and congestive obstructive pulmonary diseases. Some sort of foliage, be it trees or plants, is essential as they increase the levels of oxygen through transpiration and help keep the house cool. Ideally, your house should be away from any source of dust, smoke and germs to keep your lungs and mind healthy.”
A Clean Environment Is A Healthy Environment
The urban landscape is burdened with accommodating the locals, the migrants and even the tourists that add to the city’s woes. As the population grows rapidly, the land area remains the same, unfortunately leading to cramped spaces with no natural light and no scope for fresh air. With major city builders charging a premium for balconies, one can well imagine the kind of shortage we are facing. Additionally, the lack of basic civic sense in people around us has made the entire city a dump yard with garbage collected in small quantities at every nook and corner. The problems erupting due to the underlying real estate and public waste management issues also adversely affect your health.
The dirt attracts more dirt
Thenumerous little unsanctioned piles of trash on the sides of the roads, outside your house and, around eating joints are all ripe breeding grounds for insects and flies. They are the primary carriers of infections and diseases, and if you are living close to such a dump yard, it is bound to affect your health. It is not enough to clean your house if the road outside is paved with garbage. More often than not, these piles become bona fide dustbins and before you know it, your home starts to smell like a landfill.
Proper ventilation is a must
When buildings are made with no regard to direction and only correspond to the availability of land area, it is highly likely that your balcony might open right into a wall, if at all you have one. Proper ventilation and ample sunlight are mandatory for a healthy living. Unfortunately, it is only a dream for many urban dwellers. The lack of these basic necessities gives rise to respiratory ailments over a period of time. In fact, the lack of vitamin D in the current generation is a serious problem as they move from one cramped place to another and have no exposure to sunlight, ultimately causing serious issues like brittle bones.
Proximity to harmful elements is unhealthy as well
It is not just the immediate surrounding but also the vicinity that bears heavily on good health. If you are located too close to a factory or the roads, there is a chance that you will be subject to the harmful emissions from them. Similarly, living in an area with no trees also has an effect on the temperature in the house. While a garden may not be available to everyone, make sure you have a few plants in the house. When large-scale construction is at an all-time high, a nearby site could also lead to higher levels of dust which may cause or aggravate respiratory illnesses.
A good environment is one of the most important pillars of health and is as important as what you eat. It plays an important role in strengthening your body’s internal armour against external harm. Ensuring that your house is clean and the surroundings conducive to good health should be a major priority. But, the same can be challenging to provide hence there is a need to take extra care of your health. With Ayurvedic supplements that are packed with natural herbs, you can fortify your system to fight against such extremely harmful external circumstances.
